Take Consulting is a women owned and operated company, launched in 2024 by Kate Whitfield and Claire Basinski. Together, we strive to provide our partners and clients with innovative, creative, technically sound and scalable solutions to help create complete communities by thoughtfully and intelligently responding to needs, aspirations and circumstances. We use our planning, engineering and engagement/facilitation expertise to proactively address issues of capacity, conflict and collaboration.

Meet Kate and Claire

Two industry leaders with experience and expertise tailored to you.

Kate Whitfield, P.Eng., MCIP, RPP, RSP1

Principal & Co-Founder (she/her)

Kate is a professional engineer and planner. She has worked in the private sector since 2005 with the majority of her work being for municipal clients. Her experience includes a variety of project types in transportation planning and engineering, with an emphasis on city planning and community building.

Kate has worked on projects in Canada from coast to coast to coast. She is known for her ability to harmonize the languages of engineering and planning. She is an accomplished public speaker and facilitator. Kate is also a trained project manager with a proven track record as a problem solver.

Claire Basinski, MCIP, RPP, CP3

Principal & Co-Founder (she/her)

Claire is a registered professional planner, certified public participation professional, and a trained facilitator. Since 2008, she has managed or contributed to over 75 transportation related master plans and developed, coordinated, and managed over 100 consultation and engagement related projects and programs.

Claire’s primary focus is on the strategic integration of mobility, land use and infrastructure planning underpinned by strong engagement and facilitation. She is a skilled communicator, client focused, business driven and is acknowledged as a leader in the field of integrated strategic planning.
